this article is amazing stuff, Charles! its very useful and tactical. I have kept track of certain habits by filling in a circle each day and keeping track of a streak on paper definitely helps and works! thank you, Charles!
Good stuff here. At 78, I’ve learned the same lesson the hard way: consistency isn’t about motivation or willpower — it’s about removing decisions. If I have to “feel like it,” it won’t happen. If it’s on the schedule, it does.
For me it’s simple: pickleball almost every day, free weights 2–3 times a week, and writing for my Substack. No drama, no countdowns, no hacks. Just clear priorities and a routine that survives real life.
Most people overcomplicate consistency. The trick is to make the right thing the easy thing — and then just keep showing up.
Hello, it's nice to meet you. You seem very friendly. Can we be friends?
Sure! Nice to meet you. How are you doing?
I love the streaks. I've been using the Screen Zen app to minimize
My time on Instagram and other socials. You'd be surprised at how well not wanting to break the streak works!
Yeah, it is a great way to quit bad habits. Thanks for your comment btw!
Great message! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Keep it up!
Great article, Charles! Staying consistent is one of the hardest things to do.
Thanks! And I agree, staying consistent is not easy, but it is necessary.

Exactly, when your habits become the easiest thing to do, you have no reason to skip them.
Correct! Besides writing six books on pickleball, I also wrote "Unbreakable Habits," a book about this same topic. Available on Amazon.
That sounds like a nice book.
